REFLECTIVE PAPER INSTRUCTIONS
Throughout this course, we have looked at techniques and skills which you can use to improve yourself as a
student at Post University and how you can apply these skills to your career and personal life. For your final
assignment, you will be writing a reflective paper based on what you learned throughout this course. A
reflective paper is designed to have you discuss topics while using your personal experiences as examples. This
means that this paper is unique to every student since each person brings their own experiences to this course
and assignment.
ASSIGNMENT DIRECTIONS
Knowing your VAK (Visual, Audio, and Kinesthetic) and MI (Multiple Intelligence) learning styles relating to
your work in the course about goal setting and motivators, please address the following questions in the
reflective paper:
1. How are your intrinsic and extrinsic motivators influenced by your learning styles?
2. How can you align your motivators with the strengths of your learning styles?
3. With the SMART goals you set within this course, how does knowing your learning styles impact
achieving those goals?
4. What type of strategies can you use from your learning styles to ensure that you achieve your shortterm
and long-term goals?
Your reflective paper should be 3 pages long (5 pages total including Title Page and Reference Page). It is
written in the first person (I, me, my) and needs to have correct APA formatting throughout out the paper,
including citations and paraphrasing. You need to use your three sources (2 articles and a website) to support

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA: PARAPHRASING
In your paper you will paraphrase information not directly quote it from your sources. The most significant
reason for using paraphrasing is to provide support for your claims or add credibility to your writing. If you
want to incorporate information into your Argumentative Research Essay effectively, you must manage your
sources skillfully and accurately.
Keep these rules in mind:
1. No more than 15% of your paper should be paraphrased. Most of the writing should be your own.
Use words and opinions of others only to support your own points and ideas.
2. Keep paraphrases short. Resist the temptation to quote long passages of text, even if it seems
remarkable and strikingly worded. Instead, smoothly incorporate fragments of paraphrases into your
own sentences, making certain that the sentence structure is correct and makes sense.
3. Clearly identify each paraphrase. If the purpose of paraphrasing is to lend credibility to your writing,
and you should indicate the authority behind the words. Use a signal phrase to set up the direct quotation
or paraphrase properly.
4. Precede and follow paraphrases with your own commentary. Don’t use a paraphrase to make your
point. Instead, state your idea in your own words, and supplement that with cited material from an
expert.
5. Interweave your sources. When paraphrases from the same source are all clustered in one portion of a
paper, it can be a clear sign of an author that is not supporting their topics with analysis. Instead, the
paper should blend information from different sources to create and support your own analysis.
